Alfiorau earns IBA.PRO 5 home headliner in Brest

Alfiorau (2-1), who won a silver medal at the 2021 IBA Men’s World Boxing Championships, will be aiming to continue the impressive form from last year when he defeated Artem Ageev of Russia by technical knockout at IBA Champions’ Night in Serpukhov. As well as being a World silver medallist, he has a silver medal from the 2024 European Championships too. Russia’s Pavel Silyagin (15-0-1) and Carlos Gongora of Ecuador (22-3) will also be on the main card in the light heavyweight division, fighting over eight rounds, compared to the 10 in the main event. Silyagin last fought in September, beating Ulugbek Sobirov of Uzbekistan over 10 rounds in Chelyabinsk to win the IBF Inter-Continental super middleweight title. On the undercard, Uladzislau Smiahlikau from Belarus, who represented his country at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, meets the undefeated Chapiteau Dimuntu of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (4-0) at 92kg. In the women’s 52kg division, World bronze medallist Yulia Apanasovich will be hoping for a home win, but must defeat Russian veteran Elena Saveleva (9-1), the 2010 World champion and two-time European gold medallist.
