Takeru Conquers Rodtang In Instant Classic To Claim Interim Flyweight Kickboxing World Title At ONE SAMURAI 1

ONE Samurai 1: Rodtang vs. Takeru Ⅱ – watch online from Tokyo’s Ariake Arena on Wednesday, April 29 2026 – live broadcast and video-图片2

In the final fight of his storied career, Takeru “Natural Born Krusher” Segawa rode off into the sunset as a ONE World Champion, stopping Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon via TKO at the 2:22 mark of round five to claim the ONE Interim Flyweight Kickboxing World Title at ONE SAMURAI 1, which emanated live from Tokyo’s Ariake Arena on Wednesday, April 29.

The rematch was over a year in the making. In their first meeting at ONE 172 in March 2025, the Thai had knocked out the hometown hero in just 80 seconds with a left hook. That result haunted the Japanese superstar, who confessed he wasn’t at his best that night.

However, Takeru made up for it by orchestrating arguably the greatest performance of his career.

Once again, Rodtang came out with one target in the opening round – the chin of Takeru – and he took aim with the same left hook that had finished the Japanese superstar in their first meeting. But this time, the 34-year-old from Team Vasileus was prepared. He blocked, absorbed, and countered with kicks, growing in confidence with each exchange.

Chaos ensued in the second frame. Two left hooks on two separate occasions dropped Rodtang, and twice the seemingly invincible Thai answered the eight-count, visibly shaken but refusing to yield.

Rodtang cleared his head in the third stanza and found his footing, stabbing his front push kick into Takeru’s stomach and opening up with punches. The Japanese icon took it all in stride – smiling, calling his rival on, and daring him to throw more.

The fourth was an absolute war.

Both men unleashed shots in a wild exchange late in the round, with Rodtang storming back and tagging Takeru at will. But in the waning moments of the stanza, the “Natural Born Krusher” snapped the Thai megastar’s head back with a sharp blow that sent a message of his own.

The end came in the fifth. A right hand buckled Rodtang’s legs, a left hook followed, and another right hand sent him down for an eight-count. “The Iron Man” rose to his feet, but a final right hand hurt him badly, and only the ropes kept him upright.

Takeru kept punching until the ropes no longer did their job, and the referee waved the World Title contest off.

With the win, Takeru put an end to a storied career, but he left the door open for the next generation of martial arts heroes from Japan.

The icon finished his professional career with a 46-5 record, a performance bonus of 15 million Japanese yen (roughly US$100,000), and the ONE Interim Flyweight Kickboxing World Title around his waist.

The Uzbekistani dynamo silenced the deafening crowd inside the Japanese capital city with his finest highlight-reel moment yet, live via pay-per-view, on Wednesday, April 29.

From the opening bell, the contest unfolded at a breakneck pace. Both athletes displayed their complete MMA arsenal, keeping the action tight behind constant attacks.

However, a missed takedown attempt from the Raqobat Gym fighting pride allowed “Little Piranha” to land grounded knees early. The Uzbek recovered well, timely reversing positions with a powerful fireman’s carry, setting the tone for a chaotic brawl on the canvas.

Kholmirzaev edged Wakamatsu in that department, utilizing his judo prowess with multiple throws and relentless control from top position – even mixing in strikes as he creatively hunted for submissions.

“Ninzya’s” onslaught forced The Tribe Tokyo MMA representative to respond with urgency. Wakamatsu retaliated with grounded knees and caught the in-form challenger with a sneaky punch after an axe kick attempt.

Not even a sheet of paper could separate the two in the opening frame, and the match continued on a similar gear in the second round. Wakamatsu surged forward with punching combinations, but the 25-year-old showed calm in the storm.

He evaded the Japanese fighter’s best attacks and launched with another aggressive takedown. “Little Piranha” answered with strong sprawls as he freed himself from a dangerous crucifix position to keep himself in the fight. Unfortunately, it didn’t last long.

During a close-range exchange after taking an elbow from Wakamatsu, Kholmirzaev fired back with a spinning back elbow that landed flush, separating the reigning king from his consciousness at the 4:53 mark of round two and instantly changing the atmosphere inside the Ariake Arena.

With the knockout, the 25-year-old became the first Uzbekistani World Champion in the organization.

The newly crowned ONE Flyweight MMA World Champion improved to 16-2 with 15 finishes and, to make matters sweeter, walked away with a 7.5 million Japanese yen (roughly US$50,000) performance bonus.

Jonathan Haggerty Outclasses Yuki Yoza To Retain ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing Crown At ONE SAMURAI 1

ONE Samurai 1: Rodtang vs. Takeru Ⅱ – watch online from Tokyo’s Ariake Arena on Wednesday, April 29 2026 – live broadcast and video-图片4

ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Jonathan “The General” Haggerty delivered another striking masterclass to overcome Yuki Yoza at ONE SAMURAI 1, which went down live via pay-per-view inside Tokyo’s Ariake Arena on Wednesday, April 29.

The reigning divisional king aced another tough title defense by showcasing elite composure and tactical brilliance throughout this five-round battle against the former K-1 Champion.

The two wasted no time trading leather in the middle of the ring. Yoza, riding a flawless 3-0 run on the global stage, looked sharp and delivered a front kick with bad intentions that set the tone early. Haggerty, meanwhile, answered with his trademark evasiveness, sharp combinations, and a flying knee in a frantic opening exchange.

“The General” kept the same output when action continued in the second frame. The Team Underground and Knowlesy Academy megastar didn’t miss a beat, mixing low kicks and punches while switching stances to keep the challenger guessing.

Yoza didn’t just allow Haggerty to run circles around him. The 28-year-old had his moments with his trademark calf kicks, body shots, spinning attacks, and clean counters that slowed Haggerty’s pressure and kept the contest close.

Despite Yoza’s best efforts, Haggerty still had the better share of action in the third round. The Englishman slung in with punches in bunches to keep himself in the lead against the aggressive Japanese fighter.

As the championship rounds unfolded, Haggerty’s world-class fight IQ became the difference. The 29-year-old stayed elusive, managing distance while scoring with punches, knees, and kicks. He kept Yoza guessing, who, to his credit, pressed forward relentlessly despite absorbing plenty of shots.

Both men emptied the tank in the fifth canto. Yoza found success with hard punches and kicks, even attempting a late rolling thunder, but Haggerty responded with sharp counters to outwork him until the final bell.

After five rounds of elite striking, Haggerty’s composure, adaptability, and volume carried him to a unanimous decision win, securing another successful defense of his ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title.

“The General” improved his overall record to 24-5 and reminded everyone that the era of his dominance in the division is far from over.
