STEVEN PETERSON AND OCTAGON MMA REIGN SUPREME AT LFC 46
LFC 46 at the Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas was nothing but action from top to bottom. MMA fans and special guests, including Arkansas standout and current Dallas Cowboy running back Darren McFadden, packed the beautiful state-of-the-art facility. Octagon MMA was perfect on the night, winning all five opportunities. This is the second time in Legacy’s last three Allen events that Octagon was perfect on the night. In the main event, Octagon’s Steven “Ocho” Peterson (13-4) earned a hard fought victory over previously undefeated Blackzilian prospect, Irwin Rivera (4-1). This battle was by far the toughest for the California native. He was knocked down by an overhand right in the first. Rivera had the quicker hands and sharper punches. Peterson was cut badly under a swollen right eye. Irwin was able to land numerous combinations and powerful knees, but Peterson strategically broke his opponent down in rounds two and three. Peterson was able to execute a crucial takedown in the final minute of the third round to secure the win. The unanimous decision victory is Ocho’s fifth victory in a row.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu superstar Rafael Lovato Jr. (2-0) was victorious over talented young prospect Kevin Holland (3-2). Holland took the fight on a few days’ notice and was the heavy underdog. Holland landed a leg kick to the mid-section of Lovato to begin the fight, but Lovato immediately took the fight to the ground. The young prospect had no answers for the Jiu-Jitsu world champion, eventually succumbing to a rear-naked choke 84 seconds into the fight. Lovato Jr. was nearly left off the card when Octagon MMA prospect Charles Byrd (6-4) suffered an injury the week of the fight. Legacy scrambled to find an opponent, and Holland stepped in. Undefeated Brazilian prospect Ricardo “Carcacinha” Lucas Ramos (8-0) defeated Cody Walker (5-3) in a highly skilled Jiu-Jitsu battle. The transitions throughout the fight had the fans on the edge of their seats. Ramos secured a triangle choke in a scramble and extended Walker’s arm at 2:29 of the first round to get the tapout. The talented Legacy prospect has finished seven of eight opponents he has faced. While being interviewed by Pat Militech after the fight, Ramos looked to Legacy Promoter Mick Maynard sitting cage side and asked for his next fight. There will be plenty of opportunities for the talented fighter from Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Octagon MMA’s Jason Sampson (13-1), Sean Holden (4-1) and George Pacurariu (10-4) all secured victories on the nationally televised card. Sampson destroyed Archie Lowe in 54 seconds of the first round. Sampson had a cut over his left eye that opened up immediately. The cut was first opened in training camp and hadn’t healed completely. A clash of heads opened the cut and sent blood streaming down his eye. He was forced to go for the takedown and work for the finish. Sean Holden (4-1) absorbed numerous up kicks to win by a first round rear-naked choke over Dakotah Atnip (0-1). George Pacurariu (10-4) took his fight against Eliazar Rodriguez (7-5) on short notice. Teammate Brad Mitchell was forced to pull out of LFC 46, and Pacurariu took full advantage. In other Legacy 46 action, Legacy veteran Victor Reyna (6-2) got a first round victory by punches over Andrew Parker (6-2). Local Legacy prospect Levi Mowles (2-0) was dominant, locking in a twister 3:28 of the first round. Jessie Vasquez (1-0) secured a first round rear-naked choke to defeat Josh Nealy (0-1). Cody Owens (4-0) defeated Evers Anderson (5-1) by first round TKO for the Legacy amateur bantamweight title.
