Bilalov established control early and finished Adams with a submission near the end of the first round with a rear-naked choke. It was an impressive win that took Bilalov’s record to 6-0 while also being crowned as the new LFA heavyweight champion. In the co-main event, Josiah Harrell maintained his undefeated record (11-0) as he defeated Bekmyrza Dosmatov after his corner stopped the fight in the 3rd round. LFA CEO Ed Soares announced that the promotion will return to the Land of 10,000 Lakes on Friday, January 16th.
LFA 224 will showcase a vacant heavyweight world title fight in the main event, marking the organization’s twenty-sixth event in the state of Minnesota and the twenty-fifth hosted inside the world-class MysticLakeCasino Hotel.
LFA 224: Adams vs Bilalov will crown a new heavyweight champion as undefeated Russian contender Arslan Bilalov (5-0) meets American powerhouse Matt Adams (5-1).
“We are excited to kick off the new year in Minnesota with a heavyweight title fight between two outstanding prospects,” stated Soares. “With the belt now vacant after Denzel Freeman signed with the UFC, this matchup gives Bilalov and Adams the opportunity to make a statement and take control of one of the most important divisions in the sport.
