RAF05 kicked off the fledgling wrestling promotion's year Saturday with a big slate of matches featuring established Olympic names and plenty of crossover MMA star power, headlined by Colby Covington vs. Luke Rockhold at the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida. Covington, a longtime UFC welterweight contender and former interim champion, stepped back into familiar territory against the physically imposing, larger Rockhold, scoring a dominant 12-0 tech fall victory in Round 2. Rockhold's size and athleticism presented next to no challenge in their cruiserweight matchup, as Covington's aggressive persistence in scoring his takedowns was too much to overcome. The night's headliner wasn't the only one to feature notable UFC stars. Top-ranked UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan pulled off arguably the most dominant win of the night, making easy work of former PFL and WSOF champion Lance Palmer en route to winning via a 10-0 tech fall in Round 1.

One-time UFC middleweight title challenger and Olympic silver medalist Yoel Romero, 48, wasn't so fortunate, as he suffered a lopsided 10-0 tech fall loss to Stephen Buchanan.

UFC middleweight Bo Nickal was originally scheduled to face Romero, however Romero missed weight Saturday morning and the match was scrapped. Buchanan also missed weight for his scheduled meeting with Pat Downey, leading to him and Romero being thrown against one another in a short-notice match.

The stakes were high in the co-main event, as Olympic standout Kyle Dake met Magomedkhabib “Kadik” Kadimagomedov for the RAF cruiserweight championship. Dake came out victorious in what took Match of the Night honors, winning a 10-7 decision. Jordan Oliver and Real Woods also went at it for featherweight gold, which only Woods could win due to Oliver missing weight. Ultimately, Oliver emerged victorious in a competitive match, winning a 3-3 decision on the final point. Nathan Tomasello, however, couldn't say the same, losing his bantamweight title match against Austin DeSanto via 11-1 tech fall.
